Background and education[edit]
Breeanna Zinn was born Breeanna Reneé Sorensen on July 18, 1984 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina to mother Veronica Craft (1950-2009) and father Phil Sorensen (1945-2023). She has a younger brother named Jim Sorensen (b. 1986). When she was 12, the family moved to Lafayette, Indiana after her father took the sports director position at WTOR in Fort Wayne in 1996 while her mother took a job at NoSirGifts in Marion, Indiana.
After graduating from Lafayette Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana in 2002, she returned to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to attend the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and graduated in 2006.
Career[edit]
After graduating college, Breeanna worked for WRNC. While working at WRNC from 2006-2011, Breeanna was asked once to fill in as a guest weather anchor on the Fox News Channel, and this fulfilled her high school goal.[1] In addition, she is an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.[2]
On December 2, 2014, WLIN announced that Breeanna Sorensen would become chief meteorologist seen weekday afternoons and weather editor for WLIN, succeeding Sam Walker, who transferred his chief meteorologist duties from WLIN to WWKI upon WWKI's affiliation switch from The CW to CBS.[3] However, she declined the job offer and accepted a similar position at WTOR.
On March 31, 2016, Breeanna was announced as a moderator panelist on Vote for the Girls. She will be joining the purple team duo moderators Ava Zinn and Kymberly Alvaraz, Danni McClannahan and Lanise White, Kathi and Karly Jameson, and solo moderators Kendra Ray and Rachael Passalt.[4]
Breeanna became the Carolina's Vote for the Girls moderator. Her hometown in the Triangle has long been a hotbed for American Idol alumni and supported female contestants, are tied to the past success of artists such as Season 3 champion Fantasia Barrino (of High Point), Season 5 finalist Kellie Pickler (Albemarle) who finished sixth (as well as winning the sixteenth season of Dancing with the Stars), and season 13 finalist Majesty Rose York.
Due to being the girlfriend (later wife) of Ava Zinn, Breeanna joined the cast of Caprice & Ella on September 24, 2022. Her first apperance was the conclusion of the 14-part miniseries "Breaking Boiling Point". Because of this job, Breeanna has scaled back from her job at WTOR/WXXC swapping positions with Luka Runecraft before leaving WTOR on September 17, 2023.
Breeanna joined the weather team at WMRI-FTV 9abc in December 2023.

Personal life[edit]
As Breeana Sorensen, she was previously in a relationship with Harrison Bokamp (now Harmony Bokamp) when she attended Tecumseh Middle School and Lafayette Jefferson High School from 1997 to 2002. The relationship ended after the 2002 Lafayette Jefferson High School prom due to Bokamp arriving an hour late. She would not be in another relationship until September 2022. She is also a good friend to Dustin Keller, fellow Lafayette Jefferson alumnus who went on to play for the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.
Breeanna began a relationship with Ava Zinn on September 23, 2022. It is notable as Sorensen became the first significant other of Zinn as Breeanna is the junior partner surpassing Amanda Davidson, who held that record since 1993. As Ava Zinn is already a grandfather of three grandchildren, Breeanna Zinn became a stepgrandmother to Alisan, Michael, and Leah (and later Pia and Christina). Two months later, on November 21, 2022 news of the relationship became public, in a YouTube post by Ava Zinn, it was revealed that she and Breeanna were expecting a baby and confirmed two days later on November 23, 2022. The child will be Breeanna's first, but the seventh for Zinn, who has two children with Amanda Davidson (Samantha and Thomas, both deceased), two children with Elisa Everman (Tiffani and Sheryl, both deceased), one child with Angie Nieves (Tabitha, deceased), and one child with Kymberly Alvaraz (Kenneth, deceased). This makes Breeanna one of the relatively few women who became a step-grandparent before becoming a parent. In December 2022, Breeanna revealed that she will be giving birth to a daughter, Sierra Alexandra, in August 2023. On July 21, 2023, however, Breeanna gave birth to twin girls Sierra Alexandra Zinn and Lyssa Cassadee Zinn. On September 22, 2023, Breeanna quietly married Ava Zinn and began using "Breeanna Zinn" that day.
Sports involvement[edit]
Breeanna Zinn has been a fan of the Carolina Panthers football team since their inaugural season in 1995. She is also a fan of the UNC Tar Heels. After graduating from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 2002 and attending UNC-Chapel Hill, due to North Carolina's status as a college basketball hotbed and local teams Duke and Sorensen's alma matter North Carolina being mainstays in the tournament, NCAA tournament games are consistently among the highest-rated programs in Chapel Hill and Charlotte television markets during playoff season.
Since Breeanna and Ava began dating in 2022, Breeanna has occasionally supported the Colts and the NBA's Indiana Pacers, though neither have been able to attend or even watch NBA games since most Pacers games have moved to cable. Although Indianapolis and Breeanna's nearby hometown market of Charlotte, North Carolina both have NFL and NBA teams, neither Charlotte or Indianapolis does not have an MLB nor a NHL team yet Indianapolis has the WNBA's Indiana Fever.
