Early Life[edit]
Career[edit]
Anchorwoman[edit]
Lanise began her career in 1987 at then-ABC affiliate WMWI-FTV (now a CBS O&O) in her hometown of Green Bay as 5 p.m. anchor and reporter. White left for another ABC affiliate, Milwaukee's WXWI (though that station was a Fox affiliate from 1994 until 2010 before switching back to ABC) in the summer of 1989, where she became the noon and 4:00 p.m. anchor.
In 1989, WXWI launched the market's first 4:00 p.m. newscast (Channel 10 Eyewitness News at 4:00, now (ABC 10) Milwaukee's 4:00 Action News) and Bill Randolph, WXWI's news director at the time, prompted at the suggestion of Randolph's close friend, David Imperial, Sr., the president of WXWI's then-owner Imperial Broadcasting, wanted to pair White and eventual co-anchor Kathy Fountaine for the September 1989 debut WXWI's 4:00 p.m. newscast. At the time, in the male-dominated world of Milwaukee television news, this was a first time two women co-anchored a newscast and eventually spread to WXWI's eventual sister stations now owned by NoSirGifts Fantasy Television Stations. Both White and Fountain would eventually reunite on the American version of Vote for the Girls.
Vote for the Girls moderator[edit]
It was announced on June 9, 2014 that American host and presenter Lanise White from Milwaukee was confirmed as a moderator of Vote for the Girls. White's moderator panel role on Vote for the Girls USA have made her a much-sought after commentator on Milwaukee television that led to her hiring on this American version of Vote for the Girls. She anchored news in Milwaukee from 1989 until May 2014.
On March 5, 2015 during a taping of Vote for the Girls in Marion, Indiana, just 30 minutes into the taping, Tyanna Jones, Loren Lott, Maddie Walker (chosen by Kendra Ray), and Joey Cook were selected to perform for the Top 16 of the fourtenth season of American Idol. Immediately after the resumption of taping, Sarina-Joi Crowe and Adanna Duru (both chosen by Ava Zinn and Kymberly Alvaraz) were saved. White, irate, ultimately received a technical foul after Jax Cole (chosen by Tracia Ward). After Alexis Gomez (chosen by Holly Everman), was saved, but before she could vote, White said, "I hate this nigger country" and punched Tracia Ward. White was charged with second and third technical fouls and was ejected from the taping. She apologized for her actions the next day and was given a one-month suspension and six weeks suspension from NoSirGifts (the syndicator Vote for the Girls and owner of WXWI and WIFX.)
Following the death of Nermal Everman in July 2015, White filled in on the Australian adaptation of Vote for the Girls. Her final pick, Mahalia Simpson finished fifth place on the seventh season of The X Factor Australia.
In a seminar by Ava Zinn on July 3, 2015, it was revealed that Lanise White will remain on the Vote for the Girls panel in the United States and Australia, and Zinn prompted at the suggestion of her former NoSirGifts colleague Melvin Runecraft and the success of the White/Fountaine anchor team on on WXWI's 4:00 p.m. newscast would translate to a great Vote for the Girls moderator rivalry.
Because both White and Roberts are from the same market of Milwaukee, White was moved from the pink team to the purple team due to White's dismal 11-47-1 moderator record in the sixth season of Vote for the Girls. White replaced Rhonda Rhodes on the purple team.
Although, both White and Roberts are both females and are on different teams with White on the Purple Team (with duo moderators Ava Zinn & Kymberly Alvaraz, Kathi & Karly Jameson (formerly Karly Ryder, Jr.), and solo moderators Kendra Ray and Julia Passalt) and Roberts on the Pink team (with duo moderators Holly Everman & Perri Johnson, Tracia Ward & Hillary Matthewson, and solo moderators Thia Tola and Kellie Rock); this moderator rivalry differs from the Ava Zinn-Holly Everman rivalry of Marion/Muncie, Indiana and Tracia Ward-Kathi Jameson of Chicagoland as Zinn and Jameson are both transgendered women on the purple team are respectively competing against bisexual women Everman and Ward on the Pink team. This resulted in White becoming the third woman after Kymberly Alvaraz and Karly Ryder-Jameson (as Alvaraz and Ryder-Jameson are respectively in a long-term relationship with Zinn and Jameson) in addition to becoming the first female solo moderator is on a transwoman's team.
White's last Vote for the Girls pick in the fall cycle of the seventh season, Kim Zolciak, withdrew from the twenty-first season of DWTS, resulting in White being disqualified (along with Julia Passalt, whose last pick, Tamar Braxton, also withdrew). On May 24, 2016, Lanise earned her very first victory as winning moderator as her Vote for the Girls pick, Nyle Dimarco, was declared the male winner (and eventual overall winner) of of the twenty-second season of Dancing with the Stars, and in the process became the first black female moderator to win the site. White's last picks on season 10 of The Voice, Hannah Huston and Laith Al-Saadi--both flex picks respectively finished third and fourth behind winner Alisan Porter and runner-up Adam Wakefield (both chosen by Ava Zinn and Kymberly Alvaraz).
Personal life[edit]
Lanise White married her college sweetheart, Mark Addams, in 1983.[1] They met in 1980. They remained married for 26 years until his death on October 19, 2009 of lung cancer. They had 2 children, and White did not remarry until 2017.
Affair with Daniel McClannahan[edit]
On December 18, 2015, Lanise White announced that Daniel McClannahan would become White's significant other effective immediately. The deal, which was part of a long-term relationship agreement was driven by White's moves from the pink team to the purple team on the American version of Vote for the Girls; Leonard Lai had been considering filing for divorce from McClannahan, but McClannahan reportedly balked at Lai's demands for alimony before Lai's October 26, 2015 death.[2] This led to White reaching a deal with McClannahan, which White was eager to land since the she is a bisexual woman. This marked the second time a Vote for the Girls purple team moderator has taken a significant other away from her spouse, the first being Ava Zinn when she sold her virginity to Kymberly Alvaraz a year earlier. [3]
In February 2016, viewers began to notice that White had some minor weight gain. On March 15, 2016, news of the relationship with White and McClannahan became public during a taping of Vote for the Girls, Lanise and Danni were expecting a baby. The child would become White's third, who has two children from her previous marriage with Addams but the fourth for McClannahan, who has three children with Leonard Lai. White confirmed that she was three weeks pregnant and that McClannahan, as a woman, is the biological father of White's child–unusual for a woman in her 50's as many go through menopause. On September 10, 2016 at 53 years one month and two days, White gave birth to twin boys, Dalton Laith and Nyle Adam White, and a daughter, Madison Hannah White, jokingly she was the only one on the maternity ward who was also a member of AARP and McClannahan .[4]
On August 7, 2016, White and McClannahan became engaged. White announced the couple will marry on January 1, 2018 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
