She is the main anchorwoman of Fox 11 in Quillsville, Indiana, where the show is set. She has appeared on a recurring basis since her first appearance and co anchors with Bob Donaldson.

Character[edit]

Diane Willis made her first official appearance in "Revenge of the Male Anchors 2", yet introduced in "Ava Gets Dianed", after Bob Donaldson's co-anchor of 15 years, Cheryl Parker left Fox 11 to become a homemaker. Donaldson's male college, Gene Cox, suffered dog bites (with both legs amputated by Tabby) and cat scratches, respectively from Tabby and Shushu. In that episode, Melissa Rose successfully convinces Angela Stroup and Zach Mullins to leave Quillsville 24 and join Fox 11's prime time newscastreplacing Parker and Donaldson, respectively. She and Donaldson co-anchored Fox 11's midday and afternoon newscasts with until Donaldson retired in Revenge of the Male Anchors 5, as well as the 5:00 pm newscast with Fox 11 main anchors Stroup and Mullins (later Fanchon Stinger). Towards the end of the episode, it was revealed that Bob Donaldson and is Angie Willis' biological father after she had belived for years Ned Shanks was her father and with Diane Willis being the cousin of Ava Willis, Bob and Diane are second cousins.

Development[edit]

Queen of the Willis creator Ava Zinn had watched Indianapolis telvision news for years and found Willis' character and performance as a news presenter, she created the Diane Willis character for Queen of the Willis.[1]

The character we've created is kind of this alternate-universe Diane Willis where she's not only a news anchor in Indy but also related to one of the main characters, and we deliberately have not made any references to RTV6 Indianapolis, because we like keeping that separate. It's the obvious place to go. We tried it; we thought it would be funny to do something different. People like John Stehr and Clairce Tinsley who have taken whacks at this sort of thing — there's a precedent for it, news anchors having lives of their own.
