2016

The seventh season of Vote for the Girls premiered on October 19, 2015 and concluded on May 25, 2016.

The underwent a number of changes for this season due to a dismal record in the previous season and was the first full season to have a "Male Moderator Crew." .[1] The season is the first full season to have 14 female moderators, though six are solo moderators and four duo moderators. The seventh season will be the first full season have duo moderators of Ava Zinn & Kymberly Alvaraz; Holly Everman & Perri Johnson; Tracia Ward & Hillary Matthewson; and Kathi & Karly Jameson. It is the final season to feature Passalt[2] and Rock[3] and the only season to feature Roberts[4].

Ava Zinn and Holly Everman returned for their seventh consecutive season with Kellie Rock returning for her third as well as Lanise White, Kendra Ray, Julia Passalt, Kymberly Alvaraz, Tracia Ward, Kathi Jameson, and Karly Jameson (the former Karly Ryder, Jr.) returning for their second season. Kathy Roberts and Perri Johnson joined the moderator panel respectively replacing Rhonda Rhodes and Nermal Everman, whom respectively died in March and July 2015.

Rock, Passalt and Roberts all left Vote for the Girls after this season ended, although only Rock's departure was announced in advance.[3][2][4]

Bindi Irwin, Jordan Smith, Trent Harmon and Alisan Porter were declared the overall winners of the respective twenty-first season of Dancing with the Stars, ninth season of The Voice, the final season of American Idol and the tenth season of The Voice (all chosen by Ava Zinn and Kymberly Alvaraz, with Zinn extending her record with her 19th through 22nd wins and Alvaraz the winning moderator for the fourth through seventh time). Nyle DiMarco was announced the overall winner of the 22nd season of Dancing with the Stars, chosen by Lanise White, becoming the winning moderator for the first time and the first black female to do so.

Zinn and Alvaraz became the first moderator to have swept the season with four double victories as Nick Carter, Emily Ann Roberts, La'Porsha Renae, and Adam Wakefield were declared the overall runners-up of the respective twenty-first season of Dancing with the Stars, ninth season of The Voice, the final season of American Idol and the tenth season of The Voice in addition to Paige Van Zant being decalred the overall runner-up on the twenty-second season of DWTS; therefore securing Zinn's 23rd through 27th win as moderator and Alvaraz's 8th through 12th victories.

Perri Johnson and Lanise White respectively became the ninth and tenth winning moderators on the site. Johnson became the sixth winning moderator in their first season joining Zinn, Ward, Alvaraz, Tola and Ray.

Changes from past seasons[edit]

Opening sequence[edit]

In a Twitter post by Ava Zinn on October 27, 2014, it was revealed that the opening credits will change for the seventh season[5]. The new introduction will contain, segments from the episode previewed rather than showing the disclaimer in the previous six seasons, and a shortened version of the previous season's introduction (replacing past Victories and Notable Eliminations) would be shown, an introduction that was first used in the Australian version of Vote for the Girls. There was speculation that after a presentation of Classic Vote for the Girls was posted, the opening would replace the past Victories and Notable Eliminations with the "falling pictures" of previous Vote for the Girls supported contestants.

However, on October 19, 2015, the primary opening sequence was changed to a Tour of Indianapolis (the primary home market of Ava Zinn and Holly Everman) featuring past picks and the web site's moderators and the theme song was changed from What You've Done to Me by Australian pop singer Samantha Jade to a homage of Peabo Bryson's version of the soap opera One Life to Live theme song used on that soap opera from 1985 to 1992 remade for Vote for the Girls.[6] Although Vote for the Girls adopted the One Life to Live 1985 theme music, "What You've Done to Me" is still incorporated into the show's introductions and closings.

A second opening sequence for the regular competition semi-finals and finale debuted on December 8, 2015.

The finale opening is be a homage to "Classic Vote for the Girls". The opening sequence will add the moderators on the moderator panel and previous VFTG picks to the opening to help newer viewers pick up quicker on who is who. The introduction will be presented it in a very innovative way. The previous VFTG supported contestants are in bold type while members on the moderator panel sign their name to the picture in addition to the picture collages of previous competitions that are seen on the first page of the book.

The opening disclaimer and the parental advisory notification to the TV14 rating will remain before the opening credits.

Special Episodes[edit]

In another Twitter post revealed by Zinn[7] it was revealed that there will be specials during the season. Such episode titles will be "10 Victories," "100 Women Picked," and "200 Women Picked," will be dedicated to these viewers who had written to Ava Zinn with their stories on how the knowledge they obtained watching the site's YouTube episodes as well as the web site. In addition to the usual Vote for the Girls opening sequence, a second opening disclaimer will shown before the opening credits. Zinn's voice was heard saying:
"This special edition of Vote for the Girls contains true stories of female contestants appearing on reality-based singing and make-up competitions. All of the voting calls you will hear are real. Whenever possible, the actual people involved have helped us reconstruct the events as they happened."

In the same Twitter post by Zinn on October 27, 2014 [7], Zinn revealed that another special titled "Vote for the Girls Around the World." The special will featured five stories of Vote for the Girls Victories from around the world; segments were taken from the U.S. (this version), UK, Australia, and international versions of the show and site. The segments on the special will be edited for running time, and the original narration on all segments (including those originally narrated by Zinn) will be dubbed over by an uncredited narrator.

On March 31, 2016, as part of an April Fool's Day joke, the (male) villain panelists, accompanied by the male news staff at NoSirGifts flagship station and Fort Wayne CBS affiliate WTOR (anchors Frank Davidson, Bob Imperial and Kevin Stapleton, sports director Phil Soresnen, meteorologist Tim Doogan, WIFX anchor Rick Cortos, and special guest Stephen Christian) trade places with the moderator panel with the main female moderators anchoring WTOR's newscasts in addition to the WTOR-produced newscasts for indpendent station WXXC.

Davidson hosted the Dancing with the Stars result with Alvaraz and Holly Everman respectively filling in for Luka Runecraft and Clark Jones along with Ava Zinn and Perri Johnson respectively filling in for Archibald Coolranch and Glenn Swaringen for the Dancing with the Stars on March 28. Davidson, who filled in for Ava Zinn and Holly Everman in the third season following the death of Robyn Hurd, ceded hosting duties to Zinn and Everman for the American Idol result.[8]

Moderators[edit]

In On November 14, 2014, two days after VFTG pick Mia Pfirrman from The Voice 7 was not saved by Adam Levine, Ava Zinn fired Karly Ryder, Jr. following an incident with Ryder. Zinn stated that the fate of moderators Tracia Ward, Lanise White, Kendra Ray, and Kym Christian were still under review. On November 18, 2014, Zinn initially announced that Ray would be back for a second season, but following the Dancing with the Stars ' nineteenth season finale, Ray would return for the Spring Cycle only.

On November 24, 2014 it was confirmed that Ava Zinn had successfully auctioned off her virginity for a long term relationship and was reported that Kym Christian and Ava Zinn had been in a sexual relationship when Christian travelled to NoSirGifts' offices on two occasions in November 2010 and in May 2014, which Zinn revealed in Kym's criminal trial[9] after Christian[10] was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of Khayla Chow[11]. After three hours of deliberations on November 28, 2014, the seven man five woman jury rendered a not guilty verdict on all counts.[9] Kym Christian, following her acquittal, revealed that she will be returning and joined by her new girlfriend, Zinn, become a duo moderator (the first time on Vote for the Girls a duo moderator has served on the panel). Kym Christian will go by Kymberly Alvaraz

On the November 30, 2014, UK adaptation, Nermal Everman announced that she will be returning the UK panel and revealed that over the Thanksgiving holiday, Nermal accepted her aunt's offer to join the U.S. version and join her aunt become as duo moderator since Nermal filled in following Holly's DUI arrests[12], and picking Dancing with the Stars 19 winner Alfonso & Witney. After the fifth season, Nermal Everman was initially dismissed from this American version of Vote for the Girls due to Aeverine Zinn Holdings' (owner of Vote for the Girls franchise) strict family contractual restrictions disallowing immediate family members serving as moderators to protect the Vote for the Girls' ratings, revenue, and family income; Nermal Everman had inherited the role from her father, Michelle Steele (died on May 10, 2014), and Nermal's mother, Elisa Steele (also the sister of Holly Everman) approached Ava Zinn about allowing Nermal to become a moderator of Vote for the Girls UK. [12] This issue has also affected many other members of the same immediate family that have worked with Ava Zinn over the years, Nermal Everman was initially dismissed from the American version, but was later reinstated following her aunt's second DUI arrest on August 24, 2014[12]. Holly later commented, "I felt I had an obligation to pay Nermal an offer to join me on the moderator panel because she basically chose the winner of DWTS 19. I promise I will make this up to her."

On December 2, 2014, Tracia Ward announced she will not be returning to the moderator panel, citing concerns as the reason for Ward's departure. Ward said of her departure, "America is good and all, but I'm focusing on the UK version. Zinn also confirmed that former Your Debate host Rhonda Rhodes would be joining the moderator panel for the Fall 2015 cycle and White returning.

These moves will mark the first major rebuilding of the site's moderator panel since the inaugural season[13] as the site will see an alteration to the moderator panel with Zinn, Everman, Passalt, and Rock being confirmed as moderators. However, Passalt revealed that she will be joined by her daughter, Rachael Passalt, and become a duo moderator (the second time in any Vote for the Girls adaptation a duo moderator has served on the panel).

Male Moderator[edit]

This season will be the first to feature one of four Male Moderators who rotate from one competition to the next. The Male Moderators are typically males and transgender males, or F2M's. The Male Moderators are given nicknames by Zinn herself and they, unlike the moderator panel (as they are all females and transgender females, or M2F's) make their Vote for the Girls picks while the Male Moderator's job is to make their Vote for the Worst picks (these are typically male contestants) and preventing a Vote for the Girls victory (such as seeing all female contestants eliminated). On December 2, 2014, Ava Zinn confirmed on Twitter Male Moderators on Vote for the Girls are[14]:

  • Leonard Lai — A trans man who appeared as anchorman on Terre Haute's WFAZ-FTV and WVTH-FTV. At WVTH, Lai was colleagues with fellow VFTG moderator Kellie Rock. Nicknamed "The Tantrum Transman".[14]
