The Ava ZinnKendra Ray rivalry is a rivalry between Zinn and Ray in the Vote for the Girls USA's purple team moderators. Since Kendra Ray joined the moderator panel in October 2014, Zinn and Ray have shared the same purple team moderator panel, first as the Ava Zinn-Kendra Ray rivalry, and as Kymberly Alvaraz moved from the pink team to the purple team due to Alvaraz in a long-term relationship with Zinn from January 4, 2015 to May 31, 2017 and Hannah Wilson joining the panel in 2017, the rivalry has featured two of the best advantages on the moderator panel.

Notable moments[edit]

  • November 24-25, 2014 (DWTS 19): After Zinn's pick of Bethany Mota & Derek Hough finished fourth place, her remaining pick of Sadie Robertson & Mark Ballas and Ray's pick of Janel Parrish & Valentin Chmerkovskiy were against Pink Team moderator Holly Everman's pick of Alfonso Ribiero & Witney Carson. Zinn had led the competition until Mota & Hough were eliminated. However, Ribiero & Carson dominated the leaderborad in the Dancing with the Stars 19 finale, with Ray's pick of Parrish & Chmerkovskiy finishing third and Zinn's pick of Robertson & Ballas losing to Everman's pick of Ribiero & Carson (chosen by Holly's niece, Nermal), giving Everman her fourth consecutive moderator victory in nearly a year and Everman's fifth overall.
  • March 12, 2015 (AI 14): After the American Idol 14 Top 12 result on March 12, 2015, Ava Zinn unleashed a torrent of expletives and threats designed to motivate her fellow purple team moderators. In one portion she exclaims she is "f**king tired of losing to the opposing pink team (Holly, Kellie, and Tracia)." In another portion she exclaims she auctioned off her virginity to Kymberly Alvaraz (who had been Zinn's girlfriend since November 2014 and moved to the purple team) and said "there's no more Team Ava." Unknown to most, the cameras were still rolling and was included in the web site's sixth season finale. Zinn and Alvaraz's pick of Nick Fradiani would go on to the American Idol 14 finale in which Fradiani became the winner of American Idol (and become the web site's first male victory on Idol).
  • March 23, 2015 (DWTS 20): Less than four months after the aforementioned Dancing with the Stars upset by Everman (Everman did not participate due to being the winning moderator), Zinn (with Kymberly Alvaraz) redeemed Team Ava & Kymberly as three of the five Team Ava & Kymberly picks of Riker Lynch & Allison Holker, Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough, and Willow Shields & Mark Ballas made the Top 4 (Ray's pick of Rumer Willis & Valentin Chmerkovskiy rounded out the Top 4) and were saved by the public votes as both Zinn and Alvaraz's pick of Charlotte McKinney & Keoikantse Motsepe and Team Ava & Kymberly and Team Kendra's pick Chris Soules & Witney Carson (due to Soules's origin residing in Ray's adjacent market of Cedar Rapids and Carson's origin residing in Alvaraz's adjacent market of Salt Lake City, per VFTG USA rules) were in the bottom group).
  • March 25, 2015 (AI 14): Zinn and Alvaraz's lone supported contestant, Nick Fradiani was saved by the American public vote while Ray's supported contestant Maddie Walker and Zinn and Alvaraz's supported contestant Adanna Duru were both eliminated, resulting in not only Ray with any remaining picks on their teams, but the elimination resulted in an all-pink team moderator Top 9 for the first time in the web site's history six Pink Team female moderators earned immunity by default.
