The Ava Zinn–Archibald Coolranch moderator rivalry is between American Vote for the Girls moderator Zinn and villain Coolranch. Since the April 28, 2010 launch of Vote for the Girls, it is a matchup between the two longest-tenured arch-rivals. Thus, a Zinn-Coolranch moderator match-up can be referred to as "Indiana v. Michigan". As the moderators are on different teams based gender identity, the two moderators often participate every season when Zinn (a Van Buren, Indiana native that began her transition from male to female in 2004 on the Purple Team) compete against Coolranch (a man from Kalamazoo, Michigan on the Blue team). The only other way the two moderators would go head to head would be if both Zinn's final supported female contestant and Coolranch's final supported male contestant made the finale.

Since the web site's sixth season spring cycle starting with Kymberly Alvaraz's move from the pink to the purple team joining Zinn, the rivalry is also be referred to as "Avalanche vs. Red Wings" due to an infamous NHL rivalry and likely because of the an infamous NBA rivalry between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons.

The Zinn-Coolranch rivalry is the most intense rivalries during the first few seasons of VFTG. The villains began playing each other in 2010, along with Coolranch's former ally on then-competing web site owned by Dave Della Terza have often faced either Ava Zinn and/or Holly Everman other in more regular competitions than any other two moderators in VFTG history; only Zinn–Everman rivalry exceeds them in total games played when competition finales are included.
