◀ Season 6 Spring Cycle ► |
The spring cycle of the sixth season of Vote for the Girls began on March 5, 2015. It is also the only cycle to feature Tracia Ward as moderator.
This cycle marks four firsts in the site's history:
- This season is the first to have a "Male Moderator Crew" that was scheduled for the following season, but due to the site's dismal record (as the site's only victory of 2014 was from the nineteenth season of Dancing with the Stars) and ratings plunge during the fall cycle (Ava Zinn posted on her Twitter page the site itself plunged as much as 61 percent on the site's YouTube channel compared to the same period in the previous season.) The male moderators, Leonard Lai and Clark Jones (both transgender males), unlike the main moderator panel (as they are all females and transgender females) make their Vote for the Girls picks while the Male Moderator's job is to make their Vote for the Worst picks and preventing a Vote for the Girls victory and offering a buyout to the moderator(s) to quit the respective competition before the program's results are revealed and Zinn will then inform the moderators of the Male Moderatror's "offer", the amount of which depends on the number of female contestants remaining in the competition, in exchange for not to continue with the competition.
- Another addition was the "Moderator's Veto," which was first used before the So You Think You Can Dance season 11 finale to veto Valerie Rockey's loss to Ricky Ubela, who would have gave the site its first SYTYCD loss. The Moderators' Veto was used again before the The Voice season 7 finale to veto DaNica Shirey's elimination, which would have gave the site its second consecutive loss on The Voice following Shirey's elimination in the Quarter-Final (Top 8.)
- On the fourteenth season of American Idol, Riley Bria became the first male vocalist as a pick for the site's female moderators on the Pink Team (Holly Everman, Kellie Rock, Lanise White, and Tracia Ward) while the transwomen on the Purple Team (Ava Zinn & Kymberly Alvaraz, Julia Passalt, Kendra Ray, and Rhonda Rhodes) had to choose him as either a Best of Worst or a Vote for the Worst pick. Nick Fradiani became the first "Alex & Sierra" Idol pick as a Vote for the Girls pick for the site and chose him based on the fact that his girlfriend (Ariana Gavrilis, known as Yanni G) both auditioned separately yet present in the same room, marking the first time the website had supported a male American Idol contestant based on vocals and appearance alone in the case of Riley Bria and under the Alex & Sierra Rule in the case of Nick Fradiani.
- It is also the first cycle in the web site's history where all of one team's Vote for the Worst picks (pink team) were eliminated before any of the opposite team's moderators, therefore female moderators on the Pink Team earned immunity after one week that occoured during the fourteenth season of American Idol, .

Dancing with the Stars XX
The site will participate in the twentieth season of Dancing with the Stars as a make-up competition. As before Ava Zinn breaks the moderators into two teams based on gender identity and/or sexual orientation, with the female moderators (Everman, Rock, White and Ward) on the pink team, and trans women (Passalt, Ray, Rhodes, and Zinn) on the purple team. With Kym Christian's return to the moderator panel and Kym Christian being the significant other of Zinn as of January 4, 2015, Zinn and Christian competed as "Team Zinn" (or "Team Ava & Kymberly.")
However, since Holly Everman and Kellie Rock were the winning moderators from the respective Dancing with the Stars 19 and The Voice 7 competitions, they were not required to participate. Julia Passalt also did not participate due to her Male Moderator offers on Rising Star and The Voice 7. Also guest moderator Thia Tola will participate as part of her training for the seventh season.
Kendra Ray, Rhonda Rhodes, Lanise White, Tracia Ward, Ava Zinn, Kymberly Alvaraz will be participating for Dancing with the Stars 20. The females on the pink team will choose two couples while on the purple team, Ava & Kymberly will choose three (possibly four) couples, Kendra Ray and Rhonda Rhodes will select one each as Ray was the third place moderator.

Dancing with the Stars XX
The site continued with the twentieth season of Dancing with the Stars on March 16, 2015,[8] and concluded on May 19, 2015.[9]
This season marked the ten-year anniversary of the show. In honor of the anniversary, the winners, Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy (in his first win as a professional) on Team Kendra (in her first win as Vote for the Girls moderatror), received a special 10th Anniversary golden Mirrorball Trophy.[10] The runners-up were Riker Lynch and Allison Holker on Team Ava & Kymberly, while Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess on Team Thia came in third.
Holly Everman and Kellie Rock were not required to participate due to their respective moderator wins on the previous season of Dancing with the Stars and the seventh season of The Voice.
Eleven of the celebrity competitors and their professional partners were revealed on Good Morning America on February 24, 2015. Witney Carson's celebrity partner was reported to be Chris Soules from The Bachelor on March 4, 2015; this was confirmed six days later, after that show's finale, by Good Morning America.[10][11][12]

Boycotted Contestants (Vote for the Worst Picks) and Male Moderator Deals
The moderators also chose their picks who they would hate to see win. With the addition of the Moderators' Veto introduced, the site will not declare a loss in the event should a male contestant win. Because the site never votes for male contestants, and to maintain the integrity of Vote for the Girls, the moderators' Vote for the Worst picks are not revealed until the end of the competition or if there are no male contestants left in the competition.

Controversy
Pink Team Moderators' Picks
After posting their picks, moderator Holly Everman was subject to much criticism, particularly on Twitter, over her Vote for the Girls picks. Everman posted on her Wordpress site defending her decision to allow Riley Bria and Nick Fradiani as VFTG picks. Fans compared Everman's picks were just as bad as Ava selling off her virginity the year before. She also defended the fact that the winning moderator of the nineteenth season of Dancing with the Stars, this entitled her and her fellow Pink team moderators allowing Riley and Nick as VFTG picks.

- Notes
- Male VFTG Picks
- ↑ During the American Idol 14 auditions, site creator Ava Zinn allowed Fradiani as a Vote for the Girls pick under the Alex & Sierra rule. Fradiani auditioned with his significant other, Ariana Garvrilis (aka Yanni G), and Zinn declared Fradiani close enough to an Alex & Sierra pick for American Idol.
- ↑ During the American Idol 14 auditions, site creator Ava Zinn allowed Riley Bria as a Vote for the Girls M2F pick. However, the female moderators (Kymberly Alvaraz on the purple team chose Bria as her Best of Worst pick; Holly Everman, Kellie Rock, Lanise White, and Tracia Ward on the pink team) were allowed to choose Bria as her Vote for the Girls pick while the transfemale moderators (Ava Zinn, Rhonda Rhodes, Julia Passalt, and Kendra Ray on the purple team) did not.
