Hoosier Anchorwoman! is an American adult animated sitcom created by Ava Zinn, Tracia Matthewson, and Karly Ryder for CBS.[2][3]
The series premiered on June 27, 2009, nearly three months following the series finale of Amanda & Elisa in a few markets, while in other markets the rest of the first season aired, commencing on April 28, 2010 before the premiere of Vote for the Girls.[4]
Creative direction of Hoosier Anchorwoman! has largely been guided by Matthewson as opposed to Zinn, resulting in a series that is different from its counterparts.
Unlike the other shows, Amanda & Elisa, Queen of the Willis and The Souzas, Hoosier Anchorwoman! does not lean as heavily on the use of cutaway gags, and is less concerned with conventional "setup-punchline" jokes,[3] instead deriving its humor mostly from the quirky characters, the relationships between family members, and the relatively relatable plots. The show is not as heavy on pop cultural allusions as Zinn's Queen of the Willis, and is more concerned with telling stories while maintaining the integrity and realism of the family members.[2]
The plots are often absurd, but they are grounded by family stories and real-world issues.[5]
