Holly's first words at the start of the very first episode of Vote for the Girls were: "Hello, hello - good evening and welcome to our first Vote for the Girls. As one girl remains in the American Idol competition, it is up to us to help Crystal win it all." The first voice on VFTG, however, was that of [[Robyn Hurd]] and joins Holly, before being greeted by [[Ava Zinn]]. Everman, Hurd, and Zinn soon choose Crystal Bowersox, the remaining female contestant on American Idol, who then posts Bowersox's voting information on her website, Facebook, and Twitter.

Overview[edit]

Host and moderators[edit]

The Host and Moderators of Vote for the Girls (U.S.)

At the time of launching Vote for the Girls, Zinn was the only confirmed host and moderator. She later said that she was taking the choices of who to join her on the site very seriously, saying, "It's pointless hiring moderators who don't know anything about the music business and the female singing voice. I'll probably go and find someone who did what I did for a living. I was a presenter for 10 years." Eventually, Zinn's closest friend at the time and former news anchorwoman Robyn Hurd, and Zinn's former Patrice and Hoosier Wheel of Fortune colleague Holly Everman.

Numerous people were speculated to host VFTG, including Zinn's former RAT TV co-anchor Justin Planck and news anchorwoman Season Atkins. Zinn decided she would then serve as the sole presenter, and has been the host of VFTG since then.

Structure of Vote for the Girls[edit]

There are usually four stages in the competition process in every season, the first stage being the opening round at the beginning of each reality talent competition season. In this opening round stage, potential Vote for the Girls-supported contestants are shown auditioning in front of the judges and this is the audition shown on the television reality talent competition.

The host (and in later seasons moderators), all female or transgender females, choose frontrunners of female contestants through the opening round (usually the audition stage). Each moderator has the length of the auditioner's performance (about one minute) to decide if she wants that female contestant on her team of frontrunner picks; if the host and/or all moderators want the same female contestant to win the television reality talent competition for the Vote for the Girls Victory.

In the first season, the second (quarterfinals), third (semi-finals), and fourth (finals) stages of the competition, in which Ava Zinn under her sole discretion progressively eliminates female contestants from a pool of 10 or 20 down to two, the two female contestants she would like to make the television reality talent competition, but in the following seasons each stage of the competition the host and/or all moderators want the primary female contestant for the possible victory.
