Season 6 |
The fifth season of the American television series Caprice & Ella is slated to begin in the fall of 2023. This will be the first full season to feature Donna Doogan, Jackson Doogan, Rachael Passalt and Karly Jameson to the main cast. It is potentially the last season to feature "Theme from MacGyver" as series creator and executive producer Ava Zinn considers changing the theme song to either "Faces of the Heart" by Dave Koz, "Bad Kitty (Caprice & Ella version)" by Liz Phair, or keep "Theme from MacGyver" by Randy Edelman.

Production and development
This season saw an alteration to the show's format, with many episodes now being at least two-parters.
Cast and crew changes
In October 2022, it was announced that Rachael Passalt and Karly Jameson would join the cast after Breeanna Sorensen joined the previous season. On October 24, 2022, series creator and executive producer Ava Zinn revealed that "The Special Treat from Margaret, Phil, Julia, and Karly, Sr.", initially produced as a season four episode, would be moved to the fifth season. Zinn also revealed that her mother, Margaret, will appear in an age-preogressed hologram, previously doing so in Ava's 40th Birthday Special. Zinn also revealed that Julia Passalt, Karly Ryder, and Phil Sorensen were confirmed as guest stars as Rachael's father, Karly's mother, and Breeanna's father, respectively as well as Ava's grandchildren, Alisan, Michael II, and Leah in addition to Alisan's mother, Jenna Zinn, and Martin Becker, father of Michael II and Leah. On October 26, 2022, Zinn also revealed that Jim Sorensen, Season Atkins, and Traci Davidson were confirmed as guest stars. On January 5, 2023, it was announced that Donna Doogan and her cat, Jackson would join the cast.
The season premiere episode was dedicated to Ava Zinn's long time friend and retired Marion, Indiana Police Captain Amber Richards, who retired on May 19, 2023, Jerry Springer, who died on April 27, 2023, and to Phil Sorensen, who died in March 2023.

Things in the Zinn household finally begin to improve yet are too little, too late as the physical, emotional, and mental damage to Ava was done. Worse is Ava was disability-shamed by a rude maintenance guy and drove Ava to drink heavier than usual. Caprice and Ella, however, already knew Ava had been right the whole time. In a coincidental twist of fate, Ava learns (after six months) on April 27, 2023–the same day Ava's broadcast icon Jerry Springer passed away from prostate cancer–that a first/ground floor apartment is finally available, of which should have been made available upon November 1, 2022.
