Background
The series was first intended to air in 2011 after the American version of Vote for the Girls after it became a surprise hit following the site's support of Crystal Bowersox after Siobhan Magnus' elimination on American Idol, but was postponed after original presenter Lauren Wilson didn't like the concept so creator Ava Zinn added hosting duties. Natalie Hompkinson and Hayley Cavanagh (no relation to Hollie Cavanagh) were originally lined up as moderators, but both resigned before the programme was due to air, and Zinn could not find any replacements until Zinn and Ariel Swaringen was brought in as moderators.
