I think everything posted was actually very reasonable. However, what about this? what if you added a little information? I mean, I don't want to tell you how to run your blog, however what if you added a title to maybe grab folk's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little plain. You should peek at Yahoo's home page and see how they create post titles to grab people to click. You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to get readers interested about what you've written. In my opinion, it would bring your website a little bit more interesting.
