The song was originally released by Peabo Bryson in 1984 as the theme of the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. However, in 2010, Kassie DePaiva was approached by the producers of ABC soap opera to perform a cover for theme, was used as part of that show's soundtrack that year. At the same time, Vote for the Girls creator and execuitive producer Ava Zinn considered to commission DePaiva's version as well as Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves by Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin, but ultimately chose Here Come the Girls by Sugababes instead and would not commission a new theme song for the internet television show until 2018.

On August 31, 2018, the theme song officially replaced What You've Done to Me by Samantha Jade; Kassie DePaiva and Karly Jameson perfromed this song on Jameson's talk show.
