Moderator's Save[edit]

Another change in the VFTG UK format is the Moderator's Save, an element first used in Italy's Vota Femminili (Vote for the Girls (Italy)) and Rösta för Flickorna (Vote for the Girls (Sweden))[1] that has been used in other adaptations of VFTG. The moderators were given the power to exercise a veto on X Factor and The Voice UK and one during the make-up competition and spare the site from a Vote for the Girls Loss for that particular competition. This can only be invoked up until the semi-finals of The Voice UK and/or X Factor or before the Britain's Got Talent or Strictly Come Dancing final. If the Moderators' Veto is used in a make-up competition, the moderators will not get to choose any Vote for the Girls wild card picks on The Voice and/or X Factor because no victory nor loss is declared. The Moderator's Veto can only be used twice per series (an additional Veto can be used in the make-up competition) and it must be unanimous. The new format change was revealed on 23 November 2014. The first recipients of the Moderators' Save were Fleur East on X Factor when it was announced she was runner-up on 14 December 2014, which allowed the site to declare its second consecutive X Factor victory and Lucy O'Byrne on The Voice UK pending the final outcome.
