Rhonda Lois Patrice Willis (born Ronald Bartholomew "Ron" Willis) is a fictional character in the American animated television series Queen of the Willis and part of the Wilis family. Rhonda is voiced by series creator Ava Zinn impersonating Gordon Ramsay as a male and Nancy Cartright. Rhonda is the eldest sextuplet and the the sixth child of Ava Willis and the fourth child of Angie Willis.

Rhonda's hobbies include skateboarding, watching television (especially Queer Eye), playing video games and generally causing mischief with the yongest half-sister Brynn. Rhonda attends Vivica A. Fox Elementary School and has been in Debbie Piazza's fourth grade class. While Rhonda is too young to hold a full-time job, she has had occasional part-time jobs. Rhonda works as a bartender at Bart the Bully's social club [1].

Personality

As a male, Rhonda's character traits of rebelliousness and disrespect for authority have been compared to that of Bart Simpson from The Simpsons and Eric Cartman from South Park, and she has been described as both characters rolled into one.[2]

As a male, her rebellious attitude made her a disruptive student at Vivica A. Fox Elementary School, where Rhonda was an underachiever and proud of it.[3] She was constantly at odds with his teacher Ms. Piazza, Principal Debby Knox, and occasionally Groundskeeper Nichole.[4] Ron does poorly in school and is well aware of it, having once declared, "I am just a dumb-ass, okay? Dumber than Jim Carrey! Think I'm happy about it?"[3]

In one episode Rhonda becomes hall monitor and her grades go up, suggesting that she struggles mainly because she does not pay attention, not because she is stupid.[5] This idea is reinforced in one episode in which it is revealed that Ron has Autism.[6] The diagnosis of Autism can also be attributed to the hereditary "Willis Autism Gene", which affects the intelligence of most male and transgender female members of the Willis family.[7] Although, she gets into endless trouble and can be sadistic, shallow and selfish, Rhonda also exhibits many qualities of high integrity. She has, on a few occasions, helped Principal Debby Knox and Ms. Piazza:[8]

Due to her mischievousness and Angie's often uncaring and incompetent behavior, transgenderd daughter and mother have a turbulent relationship (á la Ron's father and his paternal grandmother). Rhonda regularly addresses Angie by her given name instead of "Mom", while Angie in turn often refers to him as "the boy" (later "the red transgirl"). Angie has a short temper and when enraged by Rhonda will strangle her on impulse in a cartoonishly violent manner. One of the original ideas for the show was that Angie would be "very angry" and oppressive toward Tom, but these characteristics were toned down somewhat as their characters were explored. Ava is a much more caring, understanding and nurturing parent than Angie, but she also refers to Rhonda as "a handful" and is often embarrassed by her antics.

In "Ava is Ashamed", (season 9, 2021) she felt she was fathering Rhonda too much and began acting more distant towards her after she was caught shoplifting. At the beginning of the episode, Rhonda protested at her over-fathering but as her attitude changed, she felt bad and made it up to her and Angie.[9] Despite her attitude, Rhonda is sometimes willing to experience humiliation if it means pleasing his parents. Ava has expressed an understanding for her now "special little girl" (when Rhonda known as Ron "special little guy") and has defended her on many occasions. She once said "I know Ron can be a handful, but I also know what he's like inside. He's got a spark. It's not a bad thing... Of course, it makes him do bad things like a jack-ass would."

Rhonda shares a sibling rivalry with his older transgendered sister Deanna, younger sisters, Emilie, Hillary, and Luanne, but has a buddy-like relationship with her youngest sisters Brynn, Brittany and Suzanne. While Rhonda has often hurt Deanna, Emilie, Hillary, and Luanne, and even fought one of them physically, they are often very close. Rhonda cares for her siblings deeply and has always apologized for going too far. She also believes Deanna to be her superior when it comes to solving problems and frequently goes to her for advice. She is also highly protective of Deanna and her sextuplet siblings: When a bully destroys Emilie's box of cupcakes in "Rhonda the General", (season 10), Rhonda immediately stands up for her.

As a male, Rhonda was is portrayed as a popular cool boy[10] and has many friends at school. Out of all of them her best friend is Sonia Fischer, although Rhonda has at times shown embarrassment about their platonic friendship[10], but since Rhonda's gender transition this was rendered moot. Rhonda is a bad influence on Sonia, and the two have been involved in a lot of mischief together. Because of this behavior, Sonia's mother forbids Sonia from playing with Rhonda in "Angie Defined".[11] Sonia is a frequent target for local bullies Billie Jones and her lesbian friends Allison Muntz, Maria Aik, and Jennie. At times, Rhonda also finds herself at the hands of their abuse and at one point one of Billy's friends gets pregnant. Despite being the more socially powerful of the two, Rhonda's social popularity has temporarily subsided various episodes either due to extreme embarrassment caused by her family or other people (or even herself) or an unfortunate coincidence. Sonia describes their social standing as "Three and a half. We get beat up, but we get an explanation."[8] While Rhonda and the bullies have been adversaries at times, with Rhonda once declaring war on Billie,[12] the school bullies actually like Rhonda for her ways and hang out with her at times, especially Billie who eventually becomes close friends with her.

Despite being currently portrayed as an underachiever, Rhonda was actually very happy and looking forward about going to school. However, the transgirl's initial enthusiastic nature is crushed by an uncaring and bitter teacher who said that she would be a failure at life and never amount to anything. Deeply hurt by this comment, Rhonda then began the process of developing her path into the mischievous way of life.

Gender transition

Rhonda (formerly Ron), Suzanne (formerly Stuart), and Brittani (formerly Brian) transitioned to female at the end of the season 9 episode "Quillsville Cold Case: Something About Loose Ava" and is the main focus in the episode "And Now There Are No Men"[13]

These gender transitions resulted in Suzanne becoming the fourth transgendered female member of the Willis family after Ava Willis (confirmed in "Quillsville Cold Case: Albert Willis"), Deanna Willis (confirmed in "Bowers for Two"), Tabby Willis ("Ten Years to Life"), Brittany Willis, and Suzanne Willis. The transition also saw Dylan Porter and Stan Hicks as the only remaining sons of Ava Willis while Angie now having no sons.
