Due to her mischievousness and Angie's often uncaring and incompetent behavior, transgenderd daughter and mother have a turbulent relationship (á la Ron's father and his paternal grandmother). Rhonda regularly addresses Angie by her given name instead of "Mom", while Angie in turn often refers to him as "the boy" (later "the red transgirl"). Angie has a short temper and when enraged by Rhonda will strangle her on impulse in a cartoonishly violent manner.  One of the original ideas for the show was that Angie would be "very angry" and oppressive toward Tom, but these characteristics were toned down somewhat as their characters were explored. Ava is a much more caring, understanding and nurturing parent than Angie, but she also refers to Rhonda as "a handful" and is often embarrassed by her antics.

In "Ava is Ashamed", (season 9, 2021) she felt she was fathering Rhonda too much and began acting more distant towards her after she was caught shoplifting. At the beginning of the episode, Rhonda protested at her over-fathering but as her attitude changed, she felt bad and made it up to her and Angie. Despite her attitude, Rhonda is sometimes willing to experience humiliation if it means pleasing his parents. Ava has expressed an understanding for her now "special little girl" (when Rhonda known as Ron "special little guy") and has defended her on many occasions. She once said "I know Ron can be a handful, but I also know what he's like inside. He's got a spark. It's not a bad thing... Of course, it makes him do bad things like a jack-ass would."

Rhonda shares a sibling rivalry with his older transgendered sister Deanna, younger sisters, Emilie, Hillary, and Luanne, but has a buddy-like relationship with her youngest sisters Brynn, Brittany and Suzanne. While Rhonda has often hurt Deanna, Emilie, Hillary, and Luanne, and even fought one of them physically, they are often very close. Rhonda cares for her siblings deeply and has always apologized for going too far. She also believes Deanna to be her superior when it comes to solving problems and frequently goes to her for advice. She is also highly protective of Deanna and her sextuplet siblings: When a bully destroys Emilie's box of cupcakes in "Rhonda the General", (season 10), Rhonda immediately stands up for her.

Despite being currently portrayed as an underachiever, Rhonda was actually very happy and looking forward about going to school. However, the transgirl's initial enthusiastic nature is crushed by an uncaring and bitter teacher who said that she would be a failure at life and never amount to anything. Deeply hurt by this comment, Rhonda then began the process of developing her path into the mischievous way of life.

These gender transitions resulted in Suzanne becoming the fourth transgendered female member of the Willis family after Ava Willis (confirmed in "Quillsville Cold Case: Albert Willis"), Deanna Willis (confirmed in "Bowers for Two"), Tabby Willis ("Ten Years to Life"), Brittany Willis, and Suzanne Willis. The transition also saw Dylan Porter and Stan Hicks as the only remaining sons of Ava Willis while Angie now having no sons.

Rhonda's transition in the episode "Revenge of the Male Anchors 4" was met with massive favor and shock from Queen of the Willis fans around the world, many of whom threatened to boycott the show due to absence, as well as other fans sending death threats to the writers. Queen of the Willis' official Facebook and Twitter pages were bombarded hostile messages directed towards Queen of the Willis' producing and writing staff, including the show's creator, Ava Zinn. Zinn later thanked fans "for caring so much about the Willis sextuplets, she is overcome with gratitude." Unsucessful fan petitions sprang up within hours of "Revenge of the Male Anchors 4"'s first airing, also receiving media attention including most prominently a Change.org petition directed towards Ava Zinn, attracting over 12,000 signatures.

In the ninth season premiere, Brynn still misses Ron dearly and spots a past incarnation of herself who has traveled forward in time to the sextuplets birthday (An event referenced in "And Then There Were 13!"). Stealing the time machine's return pad from her past self while Heather provides a distraction, Brynn goes back in time to Angie giving birth to six girls. Rhonda, Suzanne, Brittani, Luanne, Hillary, and Emilie are extremely grateful for being saved, but Brynn of this timeline finds the sextuplets' affections unnerving, not knowing the reason behind them. The episode ends with the family sitting around the kitchen with the sextuplets celebrating their 12th birthday with almost everything back to normal. After the episode aired, Ava Zinn tweeted, "you didn't really think we'd kill off the male sextuplets, did you? They are now females, for God's sake. Damn, we'd have to be high and dangerously drunk."
