Queen of the Willis creator Ava Zinn wrote several episodes of her first cartoon series Amanda & Elisa as well as a few episodes of Queen of the Willis and Hoosier Anchorwoman!. Kendall played a rendition of herself in a Hoosier Anchorwoman! episode written Zinn "Throwback Kendra, Meet Kaity Kendall", first broadcast in December 2011. In the episode, Kendall's fictionalized persona displays characteristics that are exact to the later Queen of the Willis character. However, she dressed formally and behaved slightly similarly to her role at WPTA-DT2 (channel 21.2) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Zinn found Kendall's personality in Fort Wayne and performance from the real-life ABC/NBC affiliate, WPTA so outstanding that she created a similar character for Hoosier Anchorwoman!/Queen of the Willis. Kendall is the third Fort Wayne television personality after Lee Kelso (who voices former Quillsville Mayor Lee Kelso). .[1]

The character we've created is kind of this alternate-universe Kaitlyn Kendall where she's the sister of Kendra, and we have made any references to her as an anchorwoman, because we like to incorporate it on Hoosier Anchorwoman!. It's the obvious place to go. We tried it; we thought it would be funny to do something different with it. It worked on Queen of the Willis with Bob and Diane — there's a precedent for it, television personalities voicing themselves. She's a family member to a main character, but she's this girl who clearly does have it all together.
