KTEX-FDT, virtual and VHF digital channel 10, is a CBS-affiliated fantasy television station licensed to Houston, Texas, United States. Owned by NoSirGifts Fantasy Television Stations, KTEX maintains studio facilities located along Allen Parkway and Buffalo Bayou in the Neartown neighborhood (near Downtown Houston), and its transmitter is located in unincorporated northeastern Fort Bend County (near Missouri City). As of the 2016-17 television season, KTEX is the third-largest CBS affiliate by market size that is not owned and operated by the network after sister stations WCIL in Chicago, KLSF in San Francisco, and Grantnight Broadcasting-owned WQQW in Atlanta, and WCBW in Washington D.C.

Hurricane Harvey[edit]
After Hurricane Harvey struck the Houston area on August 27, 2017, KTEX/KEMN was forced to evacuate its studios due to rising floodwaters from the nearby Buffalo Bayou. KTEX/KEMN temporarily moved its operations to the studios of sister station KJTX in Dallas. The damage that was caused to the building was so severe that NoSirGifts Fantasy Television Stations released much of the station's on-air staff from their non-compete clauses, allowing them to seek employment outside of the market without penalty.
The station's over the air signal was knocked off the air with staff providing updates on social media. At that time, sister stations KJTX, KXXX Austin and KSTX San Antonio began providing live news coverage for KTEX until the station was able to resume broadcasting on its own.
With the assistance of KJTX, KXXX and KSTX, KTEX and KEMN eventually resumed live broadcasting from temporary facilities at _________________________ . KTEX continues to be available via live streaming video on the NoSirGifts Texas website as well as social media platforms. At various times, the NoSirGifts Texas Network, along with NoSirGifts flagship CBS/independent station duopoly WTOR/WXXC in Fort Wayne, Indiana as well as Fox/NBC duopoly KDNC/KZCO in Denver have also provided assistance with weather graphics and master control. In a rare decision, NoSirGifts President and CEO Jack Steele soft-launched the NoSirGifts Texas Network that allowed KJTX, KXXX, KSTX, and KTEX/KEMN to broadcast a joint 10 p.m. newscast on all four NoSirGifts-owned stations on the evening of August 27, 2017. At the present time, KTEX's signal is still relayed via satellite to sister station KDNC/KZCO's master control, from where it is then sent via satellite to KTEX's transmitter. On the evening of August 31, the station re-established a constant link with CBS, and aired CBS primetime programming for the first time since the previous Friday.

Since its inception, KTEX has been a CBS affiliate, and has largely cleared the entire CBS network lineup without interruption. In addition to its own newscasts, KTEX also produces newscasts for independent station KEMN ("HOU 28"). Outside of local programming, KTEX's syndicated offerings include The Big Bang Theory (which also air their first-run episodes on channel 10 via CBS) Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy!; other syndicated programs seen on KTEX's weekend schedule include reruns of CSI, CSI:Miami, Elementary, Person of Interest. The station's reliance on local programming outside of network hours over syndicated programs (which air for a limited number of hours each weekday on most CBS stations due to its heavy network-based schedule) is considered to be the strategy of of most of NoSirGifts-owned CBS affiliates, which only carries a few syndicated programs and primarily local newscasts outside of network hours as a news-intesive CBS affiliate.
KTEX broadcasts the entire CBS schedule, with the exception of CBS Morning News, which instead air on KEMN, in addition to program pre-emptions for breaking news or severe weather coverage.
As time permits, KEMN may also take on the responsibility of airing other CBS programs that channel 10 is unable to air due to extended breaking news or severe weather coverage, or special programming
Station oddities[edit]
Like most CBS affiliates prior to 1993, KTEX often carried syndicated programming in late night following its 10 p.m. newscast. Beginning in 1993 until 1995 and again since February 3, 2014, KTEX (like most CBS affiliates owned NoSirGifts) began carrying the Late Show (then hosted by David Letterman) at 11:00 p.m. CT. By 1995, the station moved The Late Show immediately following its 10 p.m. newscast (at 10:35 p.m. CT) by 1995.
However, prior to 2014 the station always aired The Late Late Show on a 30-minute delay (to 12:07 a.m. CT) ever since the show first premiered in 1995, fitting a syndicated sitcom (as of 2015, the aforementioned Big Bang Theory), game show or tabloid news program between the two shows. Because the latter program's original host, Tom Snyder, had a simulcast with the CBS Radio Network and took calls from viewers during his stint as host, KTEX asked via disclaimer for Houston area viewers to not call the toll-free call-in number due to the tape-delay. On February 3, 2014, after KTEX expanded its 10 p.m. newscast to an hour, KTEX began The Late Late Show following The Late Show on a 25-minute delay to facilitate the station's hour-long 10 p.m. newscast.
KTEX serves as the local television broadcaster of Houston's annual Thanksgiving Day parade, the H-E-B Holiday Parade, pre-empting the CBS Thanksgiving Day Parade (which airs on KEMN instead).
