Garfield Edwurd Everman (June 19, 1978 – March 31, 2011) was an American television news anchorman and personality. He was the only brother of Vote for the Girls moderator Holly Everman

Early Life and Career[edit]
Garfield Everman was born in Muncie, Indiana, to Jon and Sabrina (née Grant) Everman on June 19, 1978. He was the oldest of four children and brother of sisters Elisa (b. 1979), Holly (b. 1980 d.2017), and Lynsey (b. 1982 d. 2016). His mother, Sabrina (born c. 1958), was also a news presenter and host, and his father, Jon (b. 1960 d. 2017), was a realtor he was born.
Anchorman[edit]
Everman began his career at age 4 in 1982 at ATE Media-owned WFAZ-FTV (now WMRI) in Marion, Indiana as the youngest intern and in 1994 at age 16, anchored with Marshall Davidson, Patricia Edwards, and his sister, Holly, the weekday 5:00 pm editions of NewsCenter 36 at 5:00 until December 1998. Everman then moved to competitor WRDS-FLP as anchor/reporter for 47WRDS News at 6:00 until NoSirGifts acquired WRDS in 2006 and renamed the station as INNCD 47 and the callsign changed to WXXC. When NoSirGifts Fantasy TV Stations, owner of WXXC-FDT, bought CBS affiliate WTOR and merged operations with WXXC, he co-anchored INNCD News at 4:00 with his sister and INNCD News at 10:00 (now INNCD 47 Action News at 10:00PM) with Robyn Hurd. His last stint was the main anchorman of NoSirGifts-owned Fox station WLIN-FTV from 2009 until his death in 2011.
Personal life[edit]
Everman married Natalie Hompkinson in 1999. The couple had one child, Olivia (b. Oliver September 10, 1996). Everman also adopted Hompkinson's son, Jacob, from Natalie's previous relationship. They lived in Muncie, Indiana.
Death[edit]
At 12:34 a.m. on March 31, 2011, Everman was heading home from the WLIN studios in Lafayette to his home in Muncie (a nearly two hour commute of 89 miles). Just before 1:00 a.m., while heading south on Interstate 65 outside of Lafayette, Everman's car, a black Dodge Charger, collided almost head-on with a black Toyota pickup truck which was traveling the wrong way (north in the southbound lanes) at a high speed on a curved stretch of the highway. The small truck was driven by an unknonwn factory worker (later identified as Olivia Rozlyn Walker) who was intoxicated. Everman was taken to St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette, where he was later pronounced dead at 3:37 a.m.
Just after 7:00 a.m. EDT, Everman's WLIN colleague, Jeremy Jones, began WLIN's morning newscast Fox 12 News: Good Day Lafayette (now 12News Good Day Lafayette) to announce Everman's death as breaking news. Everman's colleagues at WMRI, WTOR/WXXC, and WLIN, including Patricia Edwards, Robyn Hurd, and Ava Zinn shared their thoughts on Everman's death.
