Summary

Description Flag of the President of the United States used from July 4, 1959 to July 4, 1960, which had 49 stars in the circle. It was defined in Executive Order 10823. The design was the same as the 1945 flag, except with a 49th star added after Alaska was admitted as a state. The following year, after Hawaii was admitted, the design was changed again to add a 50th star, which is the still the presidential flag today.
