Bob Donaldson is a character voiced by the Indianapolis anchorwoman of the same name on the American animated television series Queen of the Willis. He is the main anchorwoman of Fox 11 in Quillsville, Indiana, where the show is set. He has appeared on a recurring basis since his first appearance and co anchors with Diane Willis.

Character

Bob Donaldson made his first appearance in "Revenge of the Male Anchors 2" when his co-anchor of 15 years, Cheryl Parker leaves Fox 11 to become a homemaker. In that episode, Donaldson's college, Gene Cox, suffered dog bites (with both legs amputated by Tabby) and cat scratches, respectively from Tabby and Shushu. Tabby confesses to biting Gene as well as a similar incident with Zach Mullins in "Revenge of the Male Anchors."

In the same episode, Melissa Rose successfully convinces Angela Stroup and Zach Mullins to leave Quillsville 24 and join Fox 11's prime time newscast and sending Donaldson to the afternoon newscasts with Diane Willis, where he remained until his retirement in "Revenge of the Male Anchors 5". Towards the end of "Revenge of the Male Anchors 2", it was revealed that Donaldson is Angie Willis' biological father after she had belived for years Ned Shanks was her father.

Development

Queen of the Willis creator Ava Zinn had watched Indianapolis telvision news for years and found Donaldson's character and performance as a news presenter, she created the Bob Donaldson character for Queen of the Willis.[1]

The character we've created is kind of this alternate-universe Bob Donaldson where he's not only a news anchor in Indy but also related to one of the main characters, and we deliberately have not made any references to Fox 59 Indianapolis, because we like keeping that separate. It's the obvious place to go. We tried it; we thought it would be funny to do something different. People like John Stehr and Clairce Tinsley who have taken whacks at this sort of thing — there's a precedent for it, news anchors having lives of their own.
