On May 12, 2020, Moffitt earned her first moderator win as her respective last Vote for the Girls picks for the eighteenth seasons of The Voice and American Idol, Toneisha Harris and Samantha Diaz, were the last female contestants, which Moffitt's fellow moderators overturned by drawing the "Moderators' Save" to decline Harris' and Diaz's defeats. Diaz was declared the winner of the eighttenth season of American Idol.

Death
Shortly after 4:30 pm on November 29, 2020, Alexandra collapsed at Ava Zinn's home in Fort Wayne. She was discussing ideas for the November 30 and December 1 editions of Vote for the Girls. According to Karly Jameson, she collapsed. Jameson began CPR on her. The Fort Wayne Fire and Rescue service received a call from Jameson's mobile phone at 4:40 pm, and dispatched an EMS unit which arrived at 4:44 pm. Paramedics attempted to defibrillate Alexandra's heart three times, but she did not respond until the fourth attempt. Moffitt was then transported to Lutheran Hospital, arriving at 5:02 pm. Alexandra died at 5:36 pm on November 29, 2020. Her remains were cremated, and given to her wife.

Posthumous recognition
Famed Vote for the Girls picks Jena Asciutto, her colleagues at CBS 41, and The Kathy Finklemyre Show host Kathy Finklemyre were among those who paid tribute.

On the December 1, 2020 episode of Vote for the Girls, as a tribute to Moffitt, her fellow Pink Team North moderator Jacqui Fountaine opened the show with this statement:

<blockquote>

I'm Jacqui Foutaine, Pink Team North Moderator of Vote for the Girls. Over this past weekend, we lost two of our beloved members: former Purple Team moderator Kathi Jameson and Pink Team North moderator and co-host Alexandra Moffitt. These are enormous losses for our staff and crew, for their families, and for their thousands of fans. Alexandra loved this show and everything it stood for. In fact, she taped her final episodes last when I was the winning moderator of Dancing with the Stars 29. Kathi and Alexandra will forever be an inspiration for their constant desire to learn and for the love of their families. We will air The Voice 19 competition results. That's what Alexandra wanted. On behalf of everyone here at Vote for the Girls with Ava Zinn and Alexandra Moffitt, thank you for everything Alexx.

</blockquote>

The screen then fades to black in remembrance.

Since her death, all four major Fort Wayne fantasy television stations aired their very own tributes to Moffitt such as CBS 41 which played extended newscasts from 6:00 pm to Midnight. 9abc aired a NewsCenter 9 Special Report: Remembering Alexandra Moffitt, WFTW airing classic stories from Moffitt and Fox 7 which aired a Vote for the Girls marathon.
