The opening sequence of the American internet television series Vote for the Girls is among the most well-known opening sequences on YouTube and goes along with one of YouTube's most recognizable parody theme songs.

The sequence[edit]

Feminatry (2010-2012)[edit]

The original version of the Vote for the Girls intro was created by Jack Pinnacle similar to the opening sequence to the United Kingdom game show Countdown and the American version of The Price is Right.

Firey (2013-2014)[edit]

In 2013, a new version of the VFTG intro was created and introduced in Indianapolis on the Vote for the Girls 4th season. The intro starts with the VFTG logo zooming out then features previous clips of Vote for the Girls victories and losses inside a stadium. Finally, the ending title of this intro is similar to Hell's Kitchen'.

The American, British, French and German versions are customized by featuring their past VFTG Victories and last for 30 seconds. Other versions are also customized and last for 30 seconds without featuring their past victories. Some of VFTG versions didn't use the Fire theme in intro, such as VFTG Thai and Vota Feminnili (Italy).

Scrapbook (2014-present)[edit]

In a Twitter post by Ava Zinn on October 27, 2014, it was revealed a new version of the VFTG intro was created in house which first appeared on the debut of the Australian version of Vote for the Girls[1] and was initially planned for the seventh season of the American version. The intro starts and ends with a book with flipping pages (used since 2015) featuring picture collages of past and present Vote for the Girls picks, a tribute to the American soap opera All My Children.

The introduction contains, segments from the episode previewed rather than showing the disclaimer in the previous six American seasons, and a shortened version of the previous season's introduction (replacing past Victories and Notable Eliminations) were shown. There was speculation that after a presentation of Classic Vote for the Girls was posted, the opening would replace the past Victories and Notable Eliminations with the "falling pictures" of previous Vote for the Girls supported contestants.

The opening sequence added the moderators on the moderator panel and previous VFTG picks to the opening to help newer viewers pick up quicker on who is who. The introduction was presented it in a very innovative way. The previous VFTG supported contestants are in bold type while members on the moderator panel sign their name to the picture in addition to the picture collages of previous competitions that are seen on the first page of the book. Crystal Bowersox's photo in the Vote for the Girls bible are seen on the first page of the book.

There were basically 3 types of pictures upon the debut of the opening. The first type is a Polaroid photo with a small color still snapshot which appeared to be from actual competition/episode footage. The second kind was a basic photo frame with space for one individual. The third form was a double frame so two individuals could share one screen. As individuals featured as "Polaroid" in the opening gradually left the show, no new Polaroid style shots would be added, only single and double photo frame shots. While the single and double frames are the only types of framed images featured in the opening, they are still at varying angles and distance from individual to individual. Some frames are angled diagonally in one direction, some angled in the opposite direction, some are entirely vertical.

Hometown Tour (2015–present)[edit]

In 2015, a new version of the VFTG intro was created in-house which first appeared on the Season 7 premiere of the American version of Vote for the Girls. The opening sequence begins with a shot of a city (ie: Indianapolis for the American version, London for the British version, etc.) that is meant to represent the site's home base and ends with a book with flipping pages (used since 2015) featuring picture collages of past and present Vote for the Girls picks, a tribute to the American soap operas One Life to Live and All My Children. Then, transparent “glamour shots” of each Vote for the Girls pick and moderator panelists is superimposed over shots of buildings, landmarks and sights of the city, as well as notable VFTG picks from past seasons are shown on the screen. On the May 3, 2016 episode, the opening sequence added the moderators on the moderator panel and VFTG picks to the opening to help newer viewers pick up quicker on who is who. The opening sequence was slightly modified for the eighth season of the American version incorporates the graphics package used by NoSirGifts Fantasy Television Stations.

The opening sequence is tightly edited with the same upbeat, synthesized theme by Dave Grusin used on One Life to Live from 1984 to 1992. R&B artist Peabo Bryson and since 2010, Kassie DePaiva performed the vocal version of the theme. Just as before when the uncensored American version is shown in the United Kingdom, the instrumental version is used.

The opening sequence change is an attempt to reinvigorate the show and in response to the addition of "flex picks". The first of many significant steps to overhaul the American VFTG’s look and feel began with the introduction of a new opening sequence that debuted on the American version on Monday, October 25, 2015 and the United Kingdom version on November 1, 2015. Although the American and British adaptations of Vote for the Girls adopted the One Life to Live 1985 and 2010 theme music, the previous theme by Australian pop singer Samantha Jade "What You've Done to Me" is still incorporated into the show's introductions and closings.

From this point on, this vocal version by Bryson is used over the end credits, of which the master list of VFTG picks are shown.

The American version's final shot of the opening sequence features the site's moderator photos against the Madame Walker Theatre while the Brazilan and Turkish versions, the has the site's moderator photos being arranged against a skyscraper backdrop, as the show’s title appears, one word at a time.

Beginning with the tenth American season of VFTG, a newer vocal version by DePaiva is only used in the opening credits in an opening sequence that debuted July 30, 2018.

Development and variations[edit]

In 2013, a the intro of the American fifth season of Vote for the Girls began with the iconic "Indianapolis Welcomes You" sign, which morphed to "Vote for the Girls Welcomes You." This is followed by the VFTG logo zooming in then features previous clips of Vote for the Girls victories and losses inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

Other versions[edit]

Classic Vote for the Girls (2014-present)[edit]

In 2014, a version of the Classic Vote for the Girls intro was created in house which first appeared on the season 6 episode that aired in place of the semi-final results of seventh season of The Voice on December 9, 2014.

The intro starts with a span across a mantel of framed pictures with the moderators of the site (starting with Ava Zinn and Holly Everman with their respective significant others Kymberly and Perri), then Emily West, then Kelli Glover, then Bridget Carrington, and then Crystal Bowersox. Crystal Bowersox would be the only individual to be featured twice in the same opening version. Then, the opening pans to a series of pictures strewn across a table followed by pictures falling from the sky. At the end, the aforementioned Bowersox's picture falls from the sky onto the last page of the family album, as it closes.

Specially-themed episodes[edit]

Starting in 2015, rule changes were also made to the opening sequence for episodes with special themes or events.
