In June 2016, Brill did what other female television personalities almost never did: renounce hair straightening products and began wearing her hair curly, which was its natural hair style by that time.[1] Brill's curly hair appearance went viral after it debuted on WEWS. Three Vote for the Girls moderators (Karly Jameson, Holly Everman, and Tracia Matthewson) also began wearing their hair curly at the beginning of the website's eighth season along with other female news anchors as follows:

  • Karly Jameson became the first to do so at the start of July 2016 as production of her own talk show began taping. Brill was Jameson's fifth guest that aired on September 14, 2016. On the Vote for the Girls eighth season premiere that aired August 27, 2016, Jameson got a minute-long standing ovation by the audience when she walked on stage and instantly became a much-lauded success on both The Karly Jameson Show and on Vote for the Girls (frequently being mentioned by Ava Zinn on the latter). Within three months of Jameson's hairstyle change, Karly earned her first moderator victory with her VFTG pick Laura Bretan (who had won the sixth season of Romanii au Talent and imported to the United States).
  • Holly Everman became the second to go curly officially on October 10, 2016[2]. Unlike Karly Jameson, Everman was already noted for wearing brightly colored and sequined, more revealing (if not slightly), trendy clothing [strapless (aka tube top), spaghetti-strap, and halter tops], a practice she first adopted as a trademark while Everman attended Ball State University. With her style of strapless (aka tube top), spaghetti-strap, and halter tops already a much-lauded success and with the encouragement of Ava Zinn turned them into a staple of the site's YouTube videos.
  • Traci Davidson of Fort Wayne, Indiana ABC O&O WMRI, Lynne Jackson of CBS affiliate WTOR, Jacqui Fountaine of Chicago's CBS affiliate WCIL, also went curly in August 2016.
